"HMM"
what if i did a free concert with some of my friends in the same vein as Woodstock some where random in the united states, would you spread the word and swing thru? ive been thinkin about using the power of u guys (my fans) to help me out with something epic and that would be pretty awesome. however i have to keep remindin myself its not 1969 and i would more than likely run into some issues.
thoughts?
do you think it would work? id probably have the majority of the acts be unsigned or signed indie bands/groups/artists to help bring back authenticity into the mainstream. (ALSO ELIMINATING EGOS, excluding Kanye because hes awesome and my brother and its my festival and i can do what i want and yall would wanna see him rock shit anyway so STEP OFF! lol)
the purpose of me wanting to do this is because shit is weak and we need to remind people that whats on the radio or on itunes top list doesnt always determine what this generation is THINKING. music in the past decade has mostly been one big circus of fuckery. i want to remind people of the reality of our youth, everything has been so peachy and glamorous looking to cover up how we all really feel. people call my music emo or depressing but those are people wearing masks afraid to align there minds with their souls. thats how all music was at some point, honest and raw. my music is the stuff most of you think about but wont say cause you dont like to talk about how you feel to people or your just a thinker like myself. if someone thinks my music is a downer, then they didnt listen, and are avoiding self exploration (as my homie Sakiya has said). of course im gonna sound suicidal when damn near everything else sounds like cheese balls. guess what mainstream america, not a lot of kids are happy with life, they arnt rich and dont know what they wanna do with themselves. music needs to cover all angles and rite now theres nothing happening. we all have a big sheet being thrown over our eyes to distract us from whats really goin on in our minds and the world. im bringin back raw, unedited, honest and uncomfortable thoughts of the youth.
i think because musicians get paid large sums of money for mediocrity, it distract us from using the power of music to connect with people. the more money you start to get for making shit you barely worked hard to make, the less you start to care about authenticity and using music to help people. these are just my views, im some what of a hippie (officially comfirmed by the big homie Jay Stern) but understand, im trying to understand my purpose in life everyday like many other kids and im pretty damn for certain God gave me this talent to say some shit worth saying, like many others hes blessed with the gift of song.
well, i wasnt plannin on writing that much ha
peace and love and lemme know what you guys think about the festival
heres a quote from Max Yasgur, the the cool as hell dairy farmer who allowed Woodstock to take place on his property
“I hear you are considering changing the zoning law to prevent the festival. I hear you don’t like the look of the kids who are working at the site. I hear you don’t like their lifestyle. I hear you don’t like they are against the war and that they say so very loudly. . . I don’t particularly like the looks of some of those kids either. I don’t particularly like their lifestyle, especially the drugs and free love. And I don’t like what some of them are saying about our government. However, if I know my American history, tens of thousands of Americans in uniform gave their lives in war after war just so those kids would have the freedom to do exactly what they are doing. That’s what this Country is all about and I am not going to let you throw them out of our Town just because you don’t like their dress or their hair or the way they live or what they believe. This is America and they are going to have their festival.”
